Arrest Made in Deadly Harlem Shooting: Main Suspect Captured after Nearly Three Years

Authorities arrested the main suspect in a deadly Harlem shooting nearly three years after releasing a photo of the missing subject hope someone finds where he is.

Identified as Deion King, 23, was arrested Friday for the murder of Keyshawn Cureton, 21on June 27, 2021.

The arrest came after a nearly three-year manhunt for the man who shot and killed the former hotel employee. who helped frontline medical workers in New York during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cureton was hit by a bullet during a fight at W. 136th St. and Lenox Ave., which, According to officials, it was part of an ongoing exchange between two Manhattan agencies.although there was no evidence that the victim was involved in any of the gangs.

He was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.reported Daily News.

The man had grown up in the area where he was murdered, but before that he moved to the Bronx with his mother. In the pandemic, Cureton worked in hotels where doctors and nurses traveled from place to place.

“My brother took that job,” his sister Latoya Cureton said at the time of his death. “That’s what he was doing all year, he was trying hard. That says even more about his character.”

King was charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal use of a firearm and reckless endangerment in Cureton’s death..

He is incarcerated at Rikers Island jail awaiting his next court appearance.
