A man was arrested on Long Island for his connection to a series of unsolved homicides for many years, known as the murders of Gilgo Beachwas identified as Rex Heuermannaccording to senior police officials.
Police and other law enforcement agencies could be seen searching the suspect’s home in Massapequa Park., as they searched to see if there was any evidence inside it that could link the man to the deaths. In addition, Law enforcement officers were seen in midtown Manhattan on Friday, conducting searches at the suspect’s office at Fifth Avenue and 36th Street.
For several years, Detectives suspected the perpetrator of the crimes lived on Long Island and traveled through Penn Station. A cell phone ping at the public transportation hub is part of the evidence collected, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
So far not much else is known about Heuermann, but a neighbor said he was born and raised on Long Island and has lived in the Massapequa area his entire life.
According to an interview with Hello Realtya channel on the YouTube platform that highlights life in New York City, the suspect stated that he had been working since 1987 and has worked extensively with the Department of Buildings.
The actor Billy Baldwin made it known that he went to high school with Heuermann, who graduated in the class of 1981. “Amazing… Massapequa is in shock. 23andMe attacks again ??? ”, she said on the social network Twitter.
