A 25-year-old man from The Hague was arrested for distributing child pornography. So far, this has involved the abuse of nine girls aged between 6 and 12 from the Netherlands and Belgium, but the Public Prosecution Service expects at least twice that number. .
The man was arrested on February 6, the Public Prosecution Service now reports. Since then, police have been working to identify as many victims as possible and contact the children and their parents. Reports were filed in all known cases.
The suspect has confessed. He must appear in court in the first pro forma hearing called on May 14.
The police seized several data carriers such as computers, tablets and phones from the man’s home. At least 3,000 child pornography files were found there.
The images show girls taking pictures or filming themselves while posing nude and mostly also performing sexual acts, the Public Prosecution Service says. Because the username was visible in some cases, police were able to identify some of the victims.
Modeling group
According to prosecutors, the man approached the girls through social media such as Snapchat and TikTok. He pretended to be a girl who worked at a modeling agency. The group is said to be looking for new models. Then he asked for pictures, innocently at first and then gradually.
The subpoena now lists nine named victims. So it is expected that other issues will be added. The Public Prosecution Service is asking victims to contact the former police in their own area.
