The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) announced that it was holding an OTT in the South Kalimantan Regional Government on Sunday afternoon (6/10). A total of six people were arrested.

They are made up of four state administrators and two private parties.

“Of course, we will make a request for information from that person. Next, we will update our friends tomorrow,” said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday night (7/ 10).

Imported IDR 10 billion

The Corruption Eradication Commission received initial evidence in the form of more than IDR 10 billion in the OTT. The money is suspected to be a bribe.

“We have received more than IDR 10 billion as it is still being calculated,” KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron said when confirmed in a written statement, Monday (7/10).

The case of PBJ

The OTT made by the South Kalimantan Anti-Corruption Committee is suspected to be related to an alleged case of corruption in the Procurement of Goods and Services (PBJ).

“It is normal for PBJ cases,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata when confirmed via a written message, Monday (7/10).

He explained that until now there was no definite solution to eliminate PBJ’s corrupt practices.

“Conspiracy in hiring project executives with requests for fees from state officials is a common practice in PBJ,” said Alex.

The money was received by the governor’s trusted people

The anti-corruption agency revealed that a trusted person of the Governor of South Kalimantan, Sahbirin Noor, received money suspected to be a bribe related to PBJ. However, as of now the legal status of Sahbirin Noor is still unknown.

“It is reasonable to suspect (the Governor of South Kalimantan). The money has only just arrived in the hands of people who are thought to be trusted by the governor,” said Alex.

Press conference

A total of six people caught by the OTT have reached the KPK office. They were immediately interrogated as soon as they reached the two-tone KPK building.

The Corruption Eradication Commission has 1 x 24 hours to determine the legal status of parties caught red-handed. A press conference about these actions including an explanation of the construction of the case and the identity of the suspects will be delivered by the KPK on Tuesday (8/10).
