The Venezuelan Foreign Minister’s statements come after the Swedish Foreign Minister, Ann Linde, spoke with the former opposition deputy Juan Guaidó.

The Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, questioned this Wednesday from his social networks the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ann Linde, who held a dialogue with the former opposition deputy Juan Guaidó.
The tension began when Linde thanked Guaidó from his Twitter account, after having spoken with him. In that publication, European policy highlighted “Sweden’s commitment to humanitarian aid and support for all actors working for a peaceful return to democracy In Venezuela”.
With that critical tone, the official added that “the persecution of political opponents by the regime is unacceptable. ”
A few hours later, Arreaza reacted from the same social network and replied in English: “Madam Minister, it is unfortunate that Swedish democracy supports the plans and actors created by Washington to destroy Venezuelan democracy and literally repeats Donald Trump’s script“.
Madam Minister, it’s regrettable that Swedish democracy supports plans and actors created by Washington to destroy Venezuelan democracy and literally repeats Donald Trump’s script. Supporting coups or violating the UN Charter did not use to be Sweden’s characteristics. https://t.co/vAV7fNq1Jf

Likewise, the diplomat pointed out that “supporting coups d’état or violating the UN Charter they used to not be characteristic of Sweden“, alluding to the support for Guaidó, who in 2019 proclaimed himself in a position as” interim president “of Venezuela and starred in an attempted coup that same year.
When Guaidó proclaimed himself, Sweden was one of the countries that recognized him as head of state, although the opponent never came to control the administration of Venezuela, nor did he claim that position through democratic elections.
