Protesters responded to a call from opponents of vaccination on social media. Among the demonstrators of all ages, some of whom held a large banner marked “Freedom”, were caregivers, whose vaccination had been made compulsory by the government.

“Not for Macron to decide”
The demonstrators denounced “a sham of freedom”, “a strategy of division”, “blackmail”, measures which only aim to obscure future unemployment insurance pension reforms. “You have the right to be vaccinated but it is not for Macron to decide” launches a young woman leaning against the statue, specifying not to belong to any movement or any party.

Shortly before 3 p.m., the demonstrators marched by taking the rue de la Division Leclerc. The procession is currently moving through the streets of the city center. After passing through the Raven Bridge, they went up towards the cathedral. In front of Notre-Dame, the demonstrators sang the Marseillaise.
Around 4 p.m., the demonstrators arrived in front of the Bas-Rhin prefecture where they gathered in peace.
