Around 1.7 Million Indonesian Children Have Not Complete Basic Immunizations, What Are the Impacts?

KOMPAS.com- The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) stated that around 1.7 million Indonesian children have not received immunization complete basics during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, DR dr Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, DHSM said, our basic immunization program was also affected for more than two years when the Covid-19 pandemic hit various countries, including Indonesia.

“From the decline in coverage (complete basic immunization) this will certainly have an impact and has already started,” said Maxi in an online discussion entitled “Let’s Succeed BIAN 2022” Tuesday (28/6/2022).

The regions that have the highest number of people who have not received complete basic immunization during the Covid-19 pandemic are West Java, Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, West Sumatra and DKI Jakarta.

Complete list of child immunizations and their age

The following is a list of several types of complete and advanced basic immunizations that should be given to children.

  1. HB0 immunization 1 dose, at the age of the baby less than 24 hours
  2. BCG immunization 1 dose, at the age of 1 month baby
  3. 3 doses of DPT-HB-Hib immunization, at 2 months, 3 months and 4 months of age
  4. Polio immunization drops (OPV) 4 doses, at the age of 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, and 4 months Rubella measles immunization 1 dose, given when the baby is 9 months old.
  • Advanced immunization under two years (infants under 2 years), for children aged 18-24 months
  1. 1 dose of DPT-HB-Hib immunization, given to infants aged 18 months
  2. 1 dose of Rubella Measles Immunization, given to infants aged 18 months
  • Advanced immunization for elementary school children

Secondary immunization for elementary school children or the equivalent is usually given in the annual BIAS program (Month ). Child Immunization School).

Child immunization What is given is Rubella Measles and DT for grade 1 children, Td for grade 2 and 5. In addition, there is also an HPV vaccine for schoolgirls aged 9-18 years.
