36 days full of Christmas magic in the city center come to an end
The 49th Freiburg Christmas market in the center of the Breisgau metropolis was festive. After 36 event days with quiet autumn evenings, mild rainy days but also freezing ice and snow conditions, the Freiburger Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH (FWTM) draws a satisfactory balance. 1.2 million people visited the magic stand between Colombipark, Rotteckring, Rathausplatz and Münster – just like in the pre-Corona year 2019.
The conclusion of the managing director of FWTM Daniel Strowitzki is corresponding: “As organizers, we are very happy for the craftsmen, showmen and market traders in particular that this year’s Christmas market in Freiburg was in capable of attracting numerous visitors,” says the longtime Christmas market professional. “The permanent expansion to include the Colombipark headquarters and, since 2019, the Rotteckring boulevard has made a significant contribution to this.”
Mulled wine and all sorts of other goodies
A total of 132 stands brought mulled wine, craft treasures, but also culinary delights to men and women again this year. In addition, the market was straightened out and expanded last year to include, among others, the Colombipark, which better distributed the visitor flow and thus also benefited the retailers.
Nearly 350 randomly selected people were also interviewed on December 2 and 18, 2022. It turned out that 40% of passers-by were there mainly because of the Christmas market. 35 percent said they came because of the Christmas market, among other things 25 percent of passers-by were out and about in Freiburg’s city center for other reasons.
This Friday (23 December 2022) the Christmas market closes at 7.30pm for the last time this season. The interactive market stall map gives you an overview of all Christmas market stalls that were present with their goods at this year’s Christmas market Christmas market site.
