Arona will open its beaches next Monday | Radio Club Tenerife

The City Council of Arona has been working for the last few weeks on the screening, homogenization and disinfection of the sand to fine-tune its beaches before its opening to the bath next Monday, May 25, before the more than likely entry of all the Islands Canary Islands in Phase II of the Plan of Descaling of the Government of Spain for the pandemic of COVID-19,

The municipality’s beaches will be gradually opened in order to guarantee sanitary, environmental and safety measures for all users.

So that all the measures are homogeneous in all the islands, the City Council participated this morning in a telematic meeting in which the Government of the Canary Islands, the president of the Canary Federation of Municipalities (FECAM), María Concepción Brito, and other municipalities with beaches and bathing areas, to agree on all the guidelines to follow.

During this week, all participating institutions will continue working to create a multi-sector guide that guarantees safety for all citizens who want to take a bath and sunbathe on the Canary Islands.

“The City Council’s priority is to guarantee the safety of our neighbors and make it compatible with their right to leisure and rest,” says the Mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena. “The opening of the beaches is great news, highly anticipated among many of our citizens, including the hospitality sector of the municipality. But we must be cautious. We continue to be in alarm due to the coronavirus pandemic and we cannot lower our guard. Therefore , it is very important that all the municipalities and the Government of the Canary Islands agree on the criteria to be followed to guarantee sanitary security measures on all our beaches. There is good will and the desire to move forward, “he added.

For his part, the Councilor for Public Services, José Luis Gómez, highlighted the previous work being carried out by the City Council on the adaptation of the beaches: “Not only do we have a high quality of our waters, but they have also put point our beaches with oxygenation and sand screening in anticipation of its next opening. The priority is to guarantee our neighbors the best conditions and sanitary security measures. Therefore, it seems to me a step forward that all the municipalities of the Canary Islands with areas bathroom we are working together. “
