Arnout Hauben fulfills the dream of an old gas station attendant in ‘Dwars door de Lage Landen’ | showbiz

For generations, the family of the elderly West Fleming has been pumping water from the polders to reclaim land from the sea. Amedé keeps pictures of his ancestors in a cooking pot in the kitchen cupboard (“The mice can’t eat them that way”), but the good man has had one dream all his life. Fly like bird. It’s just a word for Hauben, who puts him on a pair of virtual reality glasses connected to a drone. “A fantastic moment”, Arnout looks back. “Amedé had never been on an airplane before, but now he could fly from his seat like a bird and admire his own estate from the air. You will never forget such a beautiful moment.”

‘Dwars door de Lage Landen’ can be seen on One at 8.40 pm.
