According to publishers, American children’s book writer and illustrator Arnold Lobel considered his occupation to be the best in the world and called himself a dreamer. His books are written in simple language that is easy for children to understand, but they tell about important feelings that are well known to adults as well – loneliness, fear, friendship, love. Two friends – Vardi and Krupi have been loved by readers of several generations. The frog is an active and cheerful adventurer, Krupis is less enterprising and clumsy, but in friendship they complement each other and cannot do without each other. Lobel said that he created both of these lovely amphibians, reflecting his own character and emotions.

Friends visit each other to go for walks in nature, wake up from sleep in the spring, swim in the river in summer, eat cookies and learn to plan their day, writing a to-do list, but each event includes universal human qualities, which the author reveals with sincere and empathetic humor. Unsure of his appearance, Frog goes for a swimsuit. The temptation to eat all the cookies leads friends to the solution of feeding them to the birds. Lazy to get up from hibernation they deftly walk around the corner, replacing the walls for a calendar month. The croupier, as soon as he wakes up, enters “wake up” in his to-do list and immediately deletes it as done. Mutual support, kindness and trust permeate every adventure.

The collection includes four books: “Frog and Toad are friends”, “Frog and Toad together”, “Frog and Toad all year round” and “Days with Varde and Toad”.

The publication of the book “Adventures of a Frog and a Toad” has been supported by the State Cultural Capital Foundation in the target program “Cultural Space”.
