Twelve years ago, Maria filed for divorce from Arnold after 25 years of marriage. Shortly before, she discovered that her husband had a fourteen-year-old illegitimate child, Joseph, with the housekeeper who had worked for the family for years. What made the situation even more painful was that the baby boy was born a few days after the birth of Maria’s fourth child with Arnold. Arnold knows he “ruined” his marriage because of it.
Despite that affair, the ex-partners still seem to be on the same page. “We are not enemies,” says Arnold. “My bond with Maria will always remain, even though we have different relationships now. There is no reason for me to feel anything but love for her.”

The duo share four children together: Katherine (32), Christina (30), Patrick (28) and Christopher (24) and they will always come first, Schwarzenegger emphasizes. “We have always made it clear that the children should not suffer anything,” he explains. “She has her life, and I have mine, but we always communicate about the kids, vacations, birthdays and holidays.”
In 2013, physiotherapist Heather Milligan made the actor’s heart beat faster. The two are still a couple today. Maria Shriver also found her love elsewhere. She was a couple with political analyst Matthew Dowd for years, but they reportedly split at the end of 2020.
