In a new video, the action legend described the chilling experience and how she dealt with it.
Just a few months before filming Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), Arnold Schwarzenegger experienced a life-threatening medical emergency. He described the dramatic circumstances in a new video posted on the YouTube channel The Pump.
At that time, he underwent his third heart operation related to his congenital narrowing of the aortic valve, but this time it was supposed to be a minor non-invasive procedure. But when he woke up, the doctors were standing over him and informed him that they had unfortunately damaged the heart wall during the operation and because he was in danger of dying from internal bleeding, they had to immediately open his chest and perform a rescue… and it was definitely not a routine procedure!
“I was really scared. I angrily told them that this was really great news… Anyway, I knew that there was nothing I could do about it and that I had to get out of the situation somehow. I had to pull myself together, shift gears and set myself the goal of getting out of the hospital,” Arnold indicated.
He started in the corridor and literally in steps. “First ten steps and rest, then on and on. I wanted everyone to count for motivation. I looked like an idiot, shuffling around the corridors, but I had no choice because the doctors said I had to do lung exercises because I was prone to severe pneumonia, which is usually fatal,” he described.
He had to start training right after he got out of the hospital because the first Terminator flap was in three months. “I had to get in shape, have mobility, be able to run, lift things, train for fights and everything around. I managed it thanks to a positive attitude and, above all, the support of everyone around me, because I could not have managed any of this alone. Everyone was cheering me on and helping me, so when the shoot started I was fully back in action,” he concluded.
Schwarzenegger announced that he was done with the Terminator franchise. Recently we could see him in the comedy series FUBAR or in the three-part biographical documentary Arnold. He is currently involved in five other projects. Kung Fury: The Movie, in which he will play the American president alongside Michael Fassbender or David Hasselhoff, is the closest to the premiere.
