CELEBRITIES Now that he is getting older, Arnold Schwarzenegger (76) is struggling enormously with his self-image. The actor revealed this in an interview on ‘The Howard Stern Show’ on SiriusXM. “This really sucks.”
“Every day I look in the mirror and say, ‘Yes, you’re worthless.’” Look at this body. Many of the muscles are gone. Look at those pecs, which used to be powerful. Now they just hang there. I mean, what the hell is going on here?” the former professional bodybuilder asks.
Schwarzenegger, who is the father of five children, knows that most people are going through the same existential crisis. But it still feels different to him. “I have been praised for my ultimate body for years and you don’t see any of that anymore. I’ve gone from ‘Superman’ to the average guy. It’s hard to get used to it. It hurts.”

Although the ‘Terminator’ actor admits that he looks better than the “majority” of people his age, he is not satisfied. “When I was thirty or forty years old, I never thought about this moment. That I would no longer have the perfect body. It just sucks.” Schwarzenegger explains that everything changed for him after he underwent heart surgery at the age of fifty. “It was rough, but in the end it turned out fine. The doctor told me not to lift heavy weights anymore. That was the point where I first felt vulnerable.”
Still, Schwarzenegger tries to accept his aging process. “I can not help it. I am 76 years old. But I am still full of energy and enthusiasm. I still have a sense of life,” he concludes.
