Twente saw, among others, mainstays Ramiz Zerrouki, Vaclav Cerny and Virgil Misidjan leave. Those exits were accommodated with the arrival of Carel Eiting (FC Volendam), Younes Taha (PEC Zwolle), Naci Ünüvar (Ajax), Mitchell van Bergen (Stade Reims) and Youri Regeer (Ajax). Bruggink is critical and not satisfied. “Not quite, to be honest,” he tells ESPN. “I would have liked to have had one more very good player.”
“We have a number of players who are extremely flexible, who you can use in many different places. That didn’t quite work out. Then you also have to dare to look at yourself and say that you would have liked to see it differently,” says Bruggink, who does not mention names. The director does think that Twente’s selection is strong enough. “The team is just very well put together in terms of characters. We just have a good team with a lot of energy, but I would have liked to have had one more very good one.”

Preferably, Bruggink would have brought an attacking player to Enschede. “Yes, one actually, but it didn’t work out.”
