Arnaud De Lie leaves Paris-Nice after three stages

Cycling

After a promising start in the Omloop het Nieuwsblad, the cycling spring is starting to look less rosy for Arnaud de Lie (21). The ‘Bull of Lescheret’ is still suffering too much from his fall in the GP Le Samyn and abandons after just three stages in Paris-Nice.

“After consultation with the team leaders, it was decided that Arnaud De Lie will no longer appear at the start of the fourth stage of Paris-Nice,” his team Lotto Dstny said on X. “After a crash in GP Le Samyn last Tuesday, Arnaud feels is not yet one hundred percent in order and with the spring classics in mind it is not favorable to let him continue during the next tough stages. He returns home to prepare and put a new focus on the next races in the near future.”

De Lie could not leave his mark on the Course to the Sun. The 21-year-old Belgian was driven away by Remco Evenepoel, Egan Bernal and Primoz Roglic during the opening stage, but unlike other top sprinters, no longer appeared at the front posts. Even during the second stage, which again turned into a bunch sprint, De Lie did not finish in the top hundred.
