Palakkad: A Malayali is among the soldiers who died in an accident in Sikkim when their vehicle fell into a ravine. Vysakh (26), a native of Palakkad Mathur Chenganiyur Kav, died. Vaishakh is the son of Sahadeva, originally from Chenganiyoorkav. He worked in the Indian Army for four years. Vaishakh returned after a month’s vacation in October. Vaisakh was a Nayak in 221 Regiment.
The incident occurred in Sema, north Sikkim. 16 soldiers died in the accident when the vehicle went down. Four people were injured in the accident. In the morning, one of the three military vehicles going from Chaten to Tangu had an accident at the border. Three junior NCOs and 13 soldiers died. Four injured were transported to hospital in an air ambulance.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep sorrow over the incident. Deeply saddened by the loss of lives of soldiers in a road accident in North Sikkim.
