Army South Korea fires militarily for sex operation Abroad

After her transition, the soldier wanted to switch to the women’s corps. An officer of the armed forces says that the sergeant can only join the women’s corps if she is also legally recognized as a woman. That procedure is still ongoing.

The case has led to a fuss about the treatment of transgender people in the South Korean army. Human rights organizations are calling for the dismissal to be delayed until the sergeant is registered as a woman.

The soldier says that she “continues to fight until she can serve in the army again, although I have to go to the Supreme Court.”
