Army Chief of Staff’s Car Troops Sitting in Accident in Papua, 1 TNI Soldier Dies

The car of the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Sitting Abdurachman reported experiencing a traffic accident in Merauke Regency, PapuaTuesday (12/4).

The head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Tatang Subarna said the accident coincided with the visit of KSAD Dudung who was visiting soldiers at the Battalion Battalion 123/RW Task Force in Sota, Merauke.

“The accident resulted in the death of 1 member of the TNI and Lt. Cpm I Kadek Suhardiyana,” said Tatang in a written statement, Monday (12/4).

In addition, the accident also resulted in 3 media crews being injured. Currently the victims have been evacuated to the Naval Hospital, Merauke.

Furthermore, Tatang explained that the incident was still under investigation, but it was temporarily suspected to be a single accident.

“Where the vehicle used is outside the main group of the Army Chief of Staff and it is suspected that the driver was sleepy so he left the road,” said Tatang.

“And when he tried to return to the road, the car lost its balance and rolled over,” said Tatang.
