Arms dealer Jan B. arrested, police are investigating grounds in Hulten | NOW

Early on Tuesday, the police arrested arms dealer Jan B. in his home in Hulten, Brabant. Agents then started an investigation on and around the man’s property.

It is once again the suspicion of gun ownership that has led to the arrest of the 69-year-old man. It would be multiple weapons.

His lawyer Brian de Pree confirms B.’s arrest against NU.nl. His client does not want to say anything about the suspicion at the moment.

The police have meanwhile completed the large-scale search on and around the plot of B. Special search teams and also detection dogs were deployed. Whether the search yielded anything is unknown.

Man previously convicted of arms trade

B. is a well-known name in the criminal circuit. The man was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison for arms trade in March 2017. Weapons that were used in the double murder in the Amsterdam Staatsliedenbuurt in 2012.

In September last year, the man was still acquitted of removing the body of Freddy Janssen. The former member of No Surrender is said to have committed suicide in the presence of B. while testing weapons.

B. was initially found guilty of cutting up and removing the corpse, but was acquitted on appeal.

In December 2019, the man received a one-month suspended prison sentence for threatening Mayor Jan Boelhouwer of the municipality of Gilze-Rijen in 2015.
