10 armored personnel carriers brought into the center of Minsk to guard the residence of President Alexander Lukashenko. Military equipment is parked near the Palace of Independence, the square is cordoned off.
The participants in the unsanctioned Sunday rally have already begun to be detained. The police are preparing to stop the march: the main gathering points are blocked off, on the adjacent streets there is special equipment, including water cannons. The Independence Square has been partitioned off, barriers are being deployed along the perimeter of October Square, dozens of buses with special forces are parked near the “Minsk Hero City” stele. The Minsk Metro closed several stations where protesters used to meet.
Shopping centers “Stolitsa”, “Gallery” and “Zamok”, where the protesters previously were hiding from the police, are now closed. Fast food cafes do not work.
Internal affairs officers are on duty in an enhanced mode, reports “Interfax”.
