in the “old days”, the developers and players would hold the controller upside down to play Armored Core, with the thumb resting over the shoulder buttons instead of the analog sticks and symbols. It looks weird when you see the move in the tweet, but it certainly made the franchise stand out.
It seems unlikely that this move will be necessary for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon which FromSoftware expects many newcomers to try their hand at. However, if you want to change how you grip your controller an option can be added to accommodate that.
