If there is one word that has changed the beauty market more than any other in recent years, this is it armocromia, or a chromatic analysis system that helps identify the shades that most enhance each face. This new way of seeing and using colors – which even became a political topic for some time (after Elly Schlein confessed in an interview that she had used a color artist for her looks) – has recently become increasingly widespread in fashion and beauty thanks also to the figure of Rossella Migliaccio. Image expert, author and founder of the first Italian institute dedicated to image consultancy, Italian Image Institute, Migliaccio can be considered the expert who introduced armochromy in Italy, which is why the news of the launch of one of her line of lipsticks has shaken the world of beauty perhaps more than the launch of a beauty brand done by any other star.
There are no lipstick colors that suit everyone, so to help women find the right shade I created a collection based on color scheme: three shades for each season designed to build a small ‘capsule wardrobe’ and finally clean the drawer of lipsticks. In short, I want to be the Marie Kondo of color!
The collection that takes her name, Rossella Migliaccio, is on sale online on the site: it is a line of 12 lipsticks, three basic colors (a red, an intermediate tone and a nude) for each of the four seasons – Winter, Summer, Spring and Autumn. Starting from the assumption that there are no colors that are good for everyone, each lipstick is designed to enhance a specific season of color scheme and also shows the subgroup preference (light/dark, warm/cold, high/low intensity and deep/soft).
Guide to the seasons and colors of armocromia
For those who do not know the seasons of armochromy and its subgroups, let us start by saying that weather and temperatures have nothing to do with it: according to modern armochromy, made known in the Seventies by the American cosmetologist Bernice Kentner, the different shades are grouped into four specific palettes, defined as seasons, which are Winter, Summer, Spring and Autumn. To understand which season you belong to, you need to consider your own undertone (warm or cold), the reference color value (light or dark), the contrast between skin, eyes and hair (high or low) and the intensity or brilliance (soft or deep).

“The topic of lipstick is complicated, many women abandon the search for and use of lipstick because they are unable to like any color: this is where the idea of a line of lipsticks was born”, says Rossella Migliaccio presenting the collection. Specifically designed for each season and subgroup, the lipsticks by Rossella Migliaccio can be mixed together in so you can create your own unique shade and you can also use as blush, on the cheeks. “The idea of mixing lipsticks for maximum customization comes from Marilyn Monroe“, says Migliaccio. “Legend has it that its iconic color was a mix of five lipsticks and this thing has always remained in my head.”
With a brilliant, rich and silky texture, they hydrate the lips thanks to the raspberry extract, made in Italy, contained in the formulation and are delicately scented with vanilla. The hexagonal pack, of vintage inspiration, comes in four versions, taking up the nuances of each season’s wardrobe. How to choose your lipstick if you don’t know your season? Although it does not replace a session with a professional, a session is available on the brand’s website test to discover your own palette which helps you get an idea of your colours.
