Armenian Protest Movement “Tavush for Motherland” Marches to Yerevan to Demand Answers from Nikol Pashinyan

Members of the Tavush for Motherland movement, which has been protesting over the past week against the transfer of several towns in northern Armenia to Azerbaijan, decided to move to the capital of Armenia. The Prime Minister of the Diocese of Tavush of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, announced this to journalists on May 4.

According to the clergy, the parade will arrive in Yerevan on Victory Day – May 9.

“With God’s help, we will be in Yerevan on May 9. The movement “Tavush for the Motherland” decided to go with its people to Yerevan and demand answers,” – he said.

Currently, a cavalcade of cars and people is moving towards Yerevan with the aim of presenting the government Nikol Pashinyan “special requirements”.

According to Armenian media, students from the Armenian Reserve joined the march of the “Tavush for the Motherland” movement, which started from the village of Kirants in the direction of Yerevan.

Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan also said that the process of unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan must be stopped both in Tavush and elsewhere.

“From north to south, we are experiencing a massive bleaching process that must be stopped. One person cannot make decisions alone.” – said the archbishop, referring to Pashinyan.

The leader of the Democratic Rally Party also participated in the march. Suren Petrosyan and members of parliament Garnik Danielyan, Artur Sargsyan.

The movement, led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstyan, was also supported by the former Prime Minister of Armenia’s Freedom Party Hrant Bagratyan and also the Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA) Aram Sargsyan.

“We express our unconditional support to the right movement to protect the sovereign, democratic state of Armenia and its citizens. The DPA is sure that this movement is already pan-Armenian, and we are all ready to serve the holy cause of defending statehood as special heroes. From the captured Artsakh to the crushing of Tavush, then we will unite our forces throughout Armenia, the truth will win,” – says the statement of the political force.
