The Kremlin is obsessed with plans to restore some kind of analogue of the Soviet Union, which it wants to include Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made an alarming statement about Russia’s plans at a closed meeting with parliament members.
This was reported by the Armenian publication Hraparakciting informed sources.
The meeting lasted about 2 and a half hours. Pashinyan reportedly shared with lawmakers details of his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the International Security Conference in Munich.
“Pashinyan presented his assessments of the Munich visit, emphasizing that he considers it positive the fact of restoring contacts with Aliyev through the Western platform and, in general, other working meetings aimed at resolving Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and ensuring peace and stability in the region“, writes the publication.
Next, the head of the Armenian government made several alarming statements about Russia. Thus, he made it clear that Moscow is trying to trade behind the scenes the interests of Armenia with Turkey and Azerbaijan, and is also planning to overthrow the legitimate Armenian authorities.
However, Moscow’s plans are likely even more extensive.
“He (Pashinyan – ed.) expressed the opinion that Russia is striving to create a Union State, which will include both Azerbaijan and Armenia“, the article says.
Let us note that the “Union State” is Moscow’s attempt to recreate the USSR. Now this association includes only the Russian Federation and Belarus. Moscow tried to drag Ukraine into it by launching a full-scale invasion, but the plan failed.
It is worth adding that Armenia is already very dependent on Russia both in the military and economic spheres. However, the country is trying with all its might to leave the Kremlin’s zone of influence, which causes acute discontent among the Russian leadership.
During the closed meeting, the upcoming visit to Armenia of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was reportedly discussed. Pashinyan agreed to his visit, but on the condition that the leader of Ukraine would visit not only Armenia, but also Azerbaijan.
Earlier it was reported that Pashinyan had “frozen” participation in the CSTO and was preparing to throw the Russian Armed Forces out of Gyumri.
We also wrote that Pashinyan delivered an ultimatum to Russia regarding the CSTO.
