Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan to resign in April

Pashinyan will still resign, but formally

The political crisis in Armenia has been going on since the defeat in the war in Nagorno-Karabakh and escalated at the end of February.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he would step down from his post in April, Meduza writes.

According to Pashinyan, he will resign “not to leave, but to hold early parliamentary elections.”

In the period leading up to the elections, Pashinyan will remain acting head of government. Elections are scheduled for June 20.

Recall that political crisis in Armenia continues since the defeat in the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. It escalated at the end of February, when Pashinyan’s resignation was demanded by the country’s General Staff. Rallies of supporters and opponents of the Prime Minister are held daily in Yerevan.-
