The Annual Synod of Bishops of the Armenian Catholic Diocese in different corners of the world was held from February 26 to 29, 2024, at the Armenian Leonian College in Rome. Matters necessary for the common good of the Church were discussed in the Synod. The Synod also considered various opinions on the need to energize the Armenian Catholic hierarchy and its structures.
The Synod Fathers expressed deep concern over the insecurities created by the ongoing war in the Middle East and the Holy Land. The heavy impact of the war and the problems it may create in the future were discussed in the Synod.
The Synod took the decision to revive the Church by ensuring the active participation of more believers in the activities of the Church. The Synod also discussed the necessary changes to be made in the field of formation. The Synod took decisions to create proportionate and adequate ecclesiastical and juridical structures to better meet the spiritual and educational needs of the members of the Armenian Catholic Church who are diaspora elsewhere.
Pope Francis met with members of the Synod. The Synod expressed its deep gratitude and joy for showing its sincere attachment and encouragement to the Armenian people and the Church, especially in these critical times.
