Armed robbery of jeweler, perpetrators still on the run

The police have launched a major manhunt after a jeweler on Roselaarplein in Roosendaal was robbed. That happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Shots may also have been fired during the robbery. Several robbers then fled on scooters. A man working in the store was slightly injured.

According to a police spokesman, a witness reports that shooting was done. The police have investigated, but have not yet found any indications that there was actually a shooting. There is still a lot of investigation into what exactly happened.

Scooters in brand
The perpetrators drove on scooters towards the Tolberg. Not long after, officers found a scooter that was on fire along the Molenbeekpad. It is not yet clear whether the burning scooter has anything to do with the robbery, according to the police, but it is ‘certainly not ruled out’.

A police helicopter is now also looking for the perpetrators.

masked men
The owner of the jeweler is late BN DeStem know that a boy rang the doorbell at the store around 11 a.m. Then two masked men entered. One of them had a sword with him, with which he injured the owner on his left hand when he refused to cooperate immediately.

Five minutes later, the men would have left again. Outside, one of them would have fired a shot into the air. The perpetrators are said to have stolen jewelry, part of which they lost during their flight.
