On Saturday lunchtime there was an armed robbery on a wholesale food market on Ödenburger Strasse in Vienna-Floridsdorf. The perpetrator threatened the employee with a handgun and then fled with cash in an as yet unspecified amount.
According to eyewitnesses, the man’s escape probably took place on a bicycle. An immediately initiated manhunt with the participation of the special unit WEGA, the service dog squadron and a police helicopter was initially unsuccessful. According to the description of the person, the man is around 50 years old and noticeably short. He was dressed in a blue jacket, sweatpants and sunglasses. Witnesses report that the man carried a red sack with him.
No one was injured in the act. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation.
