Police in Suffolk, New York, say two masked, armed men robbed a poker game at a Long Island home on Easter Sunday.

Investigators told Newsday that they believed the suspects, none of whom have been identified, had targeted the property on Greenbriar Lane. One person, who has also not been identified, was shot and injured but is expected to survive.

Police say two masked suspects entered the house during a private poker game – stakes and buy-ins are unknown – and stole cash, jewelry, cell phones and other valuables to the players.

As the suspects exited the house, the incident took a violent turn. In fact, the two burglars shot an unidentified 38-year-old person who was entering the house at that time.

“As the men exited the house through a side door, they encountered a man who was about to enter the house,” police said. “The burglar armed with a gun shot him twice.

It is not known whether the victim is the owner of the house, a regular player or a simple visitor.

No other injuries were reported, but the suspects were able to flee the scene and remain at large. According to a report from News 12 (ABC affiliate in New York), neighbors say poker games take place every week at the burglarized house. A neighbor said one of the bullets hit her house.

This is not the first time a similar incident has occurred at the same location. In 2010, two teenagers robbed a poker game at the same house using knives and a pellet gun, but they were quickly apprehended.
