A man was arrested on Friday evening on the A27 near Oosterhout who had several weapons in his car. The police received a tip about this and gave chase. The suspect fled, but shortly after he collided with a truck and was arrested.
At about a quarter to nine on the A58, a motorist saw that the suspect was carrying a weapon in the car and communicated the number plate to the police. When officers found the man on the highway, he took off at high speed.
Driving along the A58, the man traveled the A16 and A59 to the A27. He crashed his car into a lorry near Oosterhout. The suspect sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital. There, the agents wanted to arrest the man, but he resisted.
Three weapons
Three handguns were found in the suspect’s car. Whether they are real is still being investigated. Police also took blood from the motorist to investigate whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Due to the investigation, the southbound A27 was temporarily closed.
