A gunman allegedly fired multiple shots at an off-duty New York City police officer Wednesday night, but no one was injured, according to police.
Authorities noted that the officer was sitting in his own car around 11:30 p.m. near 154th Street Y Macombs Place in Manhattan when a suspect approached him and displayed a firearm.
It is unclear if the alleged attacker was attempting to steal the car or if the incident was an attempted robbery, but the off-duty police officer did not comply with the suspect’s demands and the gunman opened fire.
The bullets struck the car, but the officer was not injured, the uniformed officer said.
The suspect then fled in a silver vehicle and no other information was immediately available.
