Our Armand-Cesari stadium celebrates its 90 years! Bastia-Bordeaux will be staged on 17 October.
On 4 February 1932, on the initiative of Dr. Pierre Luciani, then President of the Club, the first stone of the Stadium was laid in a place called Campaleone, a land of which it was purchased in 1926 by Giuseppe Cesari, Louis Orenga, Pierre Luciani, José Mattei and Pierre Grimaldi for 3,500 francs.
Nobody suspected then that the name of this place would have been premonitory, Campaleone, where the lions live.
And on this October 16, 1932 reigns like a festive atmosphere in the village of Furiani for the inauguration of the Stadium. Fans come by train from all over the city and its surroundings. The Sporting team faces a selection of Ajaccio players for the occasion. The Azzurri leave Piazza d’À and Piazza San Niculà to reach their new home in the plain of Furianinca! It will be called “Stade Dr Luciani” on 25 July 1933 by the Board of Directors, then “Armand-Cesari” in the 1937/1938 season following the death on 21 January 1936 of the former Sporting captain.
Rich in this history and with the passion that drives us, the Sporting Club de Bastia and the Members are working to make this event a great party. A party for the Blue People and in homage to all the generations that have succeeded one another within it to write its chapters of glory and its golden letters. Also in homage to our 19 victims of May 5, 1992.
Thanks to the partnership with Chemins de Fer de la Corse, fans will be able to arrive by train from Bastia and Casamozza. A fan-zone with conference, large screen, refreshments, counters and entertainment will be set up in the car park on the Lorenzi stand side. For the occasion, many collectibles will be available in the shop that show the image of this anniversary. Our players will wear a special jersey and a giant cheer will be created throughout the stadium.
The Club will announce the full program of these holidays in the coming days. That in fifteen days, at our dear stadium, he will have to write a new page on that old book, with blue for ink and his people for pen … To make Furiani tremble. To lead our lions to victory.
We can’t wait, all together we can do it! Long live Armand-Cesari! Long live Bastia!
