ARM Successfully Developed Flexible Plastic Chipset!

INDOZONE.ID – In an era like today, we can already see many smartphones that come with folding screen technology which certainly amazes many people. But recently ARM has revealed something that is arguably even more surprising, namely a flexible chip.

Comes with the name PlasticARM, the chipset is known to be made using plastic material so that it is more flexible and elastic even though the performance it produces is still not too great.

Because the chipset only comes with a 32-bit Cortex-M0 CPU which is the cheapest CPU from the Cortex-M series and 456 bytes of ROM to 128 bytes of RAM.

Besides that, actually PlasticARM is not the first flexible chipset in the world. But the advantage that PlasticARM has is in terms of complexity compared to other flexible chipsets.

In collaboration with PragmatlC, which is known as a manufacturer of flexible electronic components, PlasticARM has also been successfully developed with 18 thousand Logic Gates that can still work when the chipset is bent.

Unfortunately, the chipset still doesn’t have the same capabilities as chipsets made of silicon. But at least PlasticARM has been able to run three test programs on its circuit which proves that this chipset can indeed work.

Of course, with the presence of this flexible chipset, the future of fully bendable or foldable electronic devices will really happen.
