Arm Co-Founder Hauser Demands British Authorities To Intervene Nvidia Deal And Launches Public Campaign

Hermann Hauser is worried that the company may lose its independence.

Co-founder of Arm processor company Hermann Hauser launched a public campaign “Save Arm» (Save Arm), writes TechCrunch. So he wants to convince the British authorities to intervene in deal with Nvidia or canceled in favor of a government-backed public listing.

Hauser wrote an open letter to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and said he was “extremely concerned” about the deal and how it will affect the country’s employment, Arm’s business model and the country’s future economic independence from the US and its interests.

Arm employs “thousands” of people and is headquartered in Cambridge, he said. “When the headquarters move to the US, it will inevitably lead to a loss of jobs and influence in the UK,” Hauser explained.

He also created a website savearm.co.uk for public support of his initiative and began collecting signatures from businessmen and others.

Hauser is urging the British government to step in to ensure jobs are saved, and to keep Nvidia from taking advantage of other companies that Arm supplies chips to. Specifically, Arm works with Samsung, Apple, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Intel and others.

In addition, Hauser proposed exempting British companies from mandatory regulation by the Foreign Investment Committee in the United States, so that they “would be guaranteed unhindered access to their own technology.”
