Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône) is a city of art and history, which was once the provincial capital of ancient Rome. Passionate people continue to bring this era to life in the arenas with gladiatorial shows.

The city of Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône) is nicknamed “the little Rome of the Gauls”. It is also about theone of the capitals of the Camargue, who inspired the greatest painters, such as Van Gogh, as well as architects of all centuries. Arles is also an ideal playground for history buffs and archaeologists. Away from the city, specialists are trying to reconstruct another wonder: an ancient house from the first century BC. The archaeologists have three years to reconstruct the decor.
A historical treasure even older than the city’s arenas. However, the latter have been standing in the center of Arles for nearly 2,000 years. Some days, we still believe it. In the arenas, the Roman Legion comes back to life thanks to enthusiasts of historical reconstruction. Everything is done to stick to the reality of the time. Even the troops’ instructions are in Latin. They meet almost every month to rehearse their attacks and defensive positions.
