One year has passed since the events that took place at Arkham Asylum. During this time, the head of the Arkham mental hospital, Quincy Sharp, managed to leave his post and took the place of the mayor of Gotham. He now has much more power in his hands, and therefore he decided that Arkham was not suitable for housing such a huge number of criminals, and ordered the creation of a separate district for all this criminal scum. The area, of course, is not simple, but surrounded by huge walls, on which heavily armed guards and a specially hired Tyger mercenary squad are on duty day and night, ready to kill anyone who tries to escape.
Actually, there is no trace of any order inside these walls – prisoners can do whatever their heart desires. Will they want to kill each other? For God’s sake! Inside this fenced perimeter there is still not a single respectable citizen – only maniacs and murderers. The only thing that is prohibited and punishable by death is an attempt to escape. Since the titular Arkham City is located on the outskirts of Gotham, no one should escape.
This tasty little area is run by Professor Hugo Strange, who has some secret motives and plans of his own. The sequel’s plot begins at the moment when Harvey “Two-Face” Dent enters Arkham City. In order to raise his authority among his cohabitants, he catches Catwoman and plans to pompously execute her in front of everyone. Batman finds out about this and immediately sets out to save the poor “cat” with whom he had a long-standing affair.
One Batman against an entire criminal city is a good start. The entire Arkham City is divided into several districts. In each of them, one of the famous comic book villains is in charge – the same Joker has carved out a place for himself in the sun and is actively waging war with other gangs. Patrols scurry back and forth throughout all areas, so you need to be very careful while wandering the streets and actively use gadgets. The entire set of special devices that Batman was armed with in Arkham Asylum is available from the starting tape. Some of the devices are slightly modified, but the essence remains the same. In turn, new achievements of scientific and technological revolution were added – smoke bombs, with the help of which you can easily escape from pursuit, and a device for catching radio signals and searching for places from which radio transmissions are directly transmitted. The butler Alfred, who closely monitors our every move from Bruce Wayne’s headquarters, also helps us in this.
