Arizona Sunshine Remake: The Ultimate Zombie VR Experience Returns with Stunning Graphics and Intense Gameplay

Winter is coming, so who wouldn’t want to stay in sunny Arizona? Maybe just people who don’t like zombies. If the remake of Arizona Sunshine is to be believed, this desert is once again a paradise on earth for the creatures that are not dead. The original game was released almost eight years ago and now has a completely new look with all the necessary elements to play for a new generation of VR glasses.

The story of Arizona Sunshine is and remains simple. You take on the role of a nameless daredevil who has clearly been living in the zombie apocalypse for some time. His only comfort is drinking, blasting away and searching for messages on his radio. You go out to look for survivors. Are you really the only survivor in this sad world? What follows is about five action-packed hours that would be right at home in any horror movie.

The gameplay is very flexible and repetitive too often. You will encounter some zombies and then you need an item or weapon to unlock the next area. There are more zombies waiting there, more barricades to open and then a lot more zombies. The pattern may be clear, but the gameplay is still mostly interesting because you have a large number of weapons. You can get to work with pistols, shotguns, assault rifles and just about anything that isn’t loaded. This also includes clubs, pickaxes or axes. For larger tasks grenades and explosive barrels are also available.

The violence looks so satisfying too. Blood clots fly in all directions and it’s never been as good as tearing an ax through someone’s skull in real life. Maybe it’s the wrong word, because do you enjoy watching a festering zombie explode three feet from your face? Of course you do, or you wouldn’t be reading this right now! Except maybe Arizona Sunshine 2, since this remake actually uses the same improved engine. The texture looks perfect with beautiful lighting effects and improved particles during explosions. Images are not blurred, everything is sharp. Even small details like words written on a notepad are very easy to read.

The actual gameplay has remained almost the same. This also means that the main character does not always make smooth movements. Things sometimes appear out of the blue. Very strange when this happens in the middle of the line of fire and you do not shoot a warhead but hit a boulder or cactus that has just appeared. You can also go through walls with your head and hands. This is especially difficult if you do this accidentally, as the screen then goes black for a while. It’s a shame these mistakes weren’t fixed in another good remake. A nice addition is the decent reloading system we know from Arizona Sunshine 2. In addition, the downloadable content from the original has been added to this remake.
