Arizona judge suspends election audit as Republicans play last game to uncover voter fraud

The fate of a GOP-backed election audit in Arizona now hangs in the balance, after a Maricopa County judge suspended the count until Monday, so Democrats can prepare their objection. Republicans hope to find evidence of fraud.

The Arizona Republican-controlled State Senate ordered a forensic audit of 2.1 million ballots in Maricopa County this week, and the count began Friday morning at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix .

However, a last-minute lawsuit launched by the Arizona Democratic Party to end the tally was successful, and on Friday afternoon Superior Court Judge Christopher Coury ordered the tally to be suspended until Monday. , in order to allow those disputing the tally to confirm their claim that the audit violates state electoral law and was conducted without proper security procedures.

Democrats have been ordered to post a million dollar bond to suspend the audit.

Joe Biden won Arizona by just 10,000 votes, the majority of them in Maricopa County. Republicans have alleged since November that Biden’s victory was fraudulent, but two county-ordered audits have failed to substantiate those claims.
