The overseas NHL hockey club Arizona Coyotes terminated the contract with Alex Galchenyuk only two weeks after his signing. The reason is the multiple charges that the American attacker is facing after his arrest by police in Scottsdale on Sunday.
Police arrested Galchenyuk on Sunday and charged him with several crimes, including damage to private property, fleeing the scene of a crime, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and making threats or intimidation. There were no injuries in the incident, only material damage. He spent the night in a police cell and was released the next day. The NHL players’ association informed that it is investigating the matter.
The Arizona Coyotes have placed forward Alex Galchenyuk on unconditional waivers for purposes of terminating his contract. The Club will have no further comment at this time.

“We are aware of the incident involving Alex and strongly condemn such conduct. As soon as the club became aware of the allegations, we immediately began the process of terminating his standard player contract.” the Coyotes statement was quoted by the AP agency.
The Coyotes signed the 29-year-old Galchenyuk to a one-year, two-way contract for $775,000 on July 1. In the past season, he played 11 duels in the NHL for the Colorado Avalanche, he spent most of the season in the lower AHL. Montreal chose him in the 2012 draft as a third, later he also played for Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Ottawa and Toronto.
