ARIZONA.- They rescue migrant women who drowned in a salinity canal; one of them had already lost her heartbeat and was floating upside down.

Border Patrol Agent Francisco A. Gutiérrez observed a woman struggling to get out of the icy waters and rapids of the canal, while her son remained dangerously close to the water’s edge.
Gutierrez immediately asked for reinforcements and rushed to help the woman.
He saw a bag that had been discarded on the way and used it as a life preserver to help the woman. As he worked to get her to safety, he also kept the son from falling into the canal.
Unconscious woman floated in a canal
As Gutiérrez helped the woman, she noticed that a man struggled to get out of the canal and a second woman who seemed to be unconscious in the canal water downstream.
Gutiérrez notified the units from answer, and once the first woman and her child were safe, she rushed downstream to help the other people in distress.
The man was able to push himself towards shore, but the second woman continued adrift along the surface of the water with only the backpack she was wearing keeping her afloat.

Supervising Officer C. Coleman rushed to the scene, wrapped a tow strap around his waist, handed the other end to his partner, and took off. dived into the canal to rescue the woman unconscious.
“When I got there, all I could see was his bag; his face was completely underwater. I handed him the correa to my partner and I said, ‘Hold this and don’t let go!’ ”he said.
A migrant drowned in a canal is resurrected
Once in the water, Coleman was able to communicate with the woman and then the agents on the edge of the canal they led the couple to shore.
Moments later, the agents took the woman out of the water and Agent Gutiérrez, who is also a technician emergencies medical examinations, examined the woman.
He discovered that she was not breathing and that he could not detect the heartbeat.
Began the resuscitation and after less than a minute lthe woman began to breathe on her own. Agents continued to provide medical care, including the administration of oxygen and the treatment of hypothermia, until the paramedics arrived.
Drowned migrant hospitalized
The woman was transported to the Regional Medical Center of Yuma to receive advanced treatment. On Thursday afternoon she was discharged from the hospital and taken back to the train station. Yuma for processing.
