Arild Rønsen Shocked by Threatening Message: Response to Palestine Conflict Comment Causes Uproar

Feedback from a reader put Arild Rønsen in a state of shock.

– I had to read it a few times before I understood what was written there, the well-known newspaper commentator tells Dagbladet.

Rønsen received the reader’s cold shower after a comment article in Nettavisen Christmas Eve, about the Israel/Palestine conflict.

Confirms the content

“YOU are a pro-Muslim Nazi and I hope you are arrested together with the Nazi Muslim leaders in Hamas and publicly executed – just as the top Nazis were executed by the allies in the Nuremberg process!”, Rønsen said.

Rønsen was unable to find the message last Friday, but the sender confirmed the content.

“I am a peaceful person and have NO desire for anyone to be executed, not even Arild Rønsen! I hereby remove that wording in the submitted text!”, he wrote in an e-mail to Dagbladet.

“Pallywood Jew Hatred”

“You spread Pallywood Jew-hatred and are a loser!”, the man is said to have also written.

According to Rønsen, the background was a comment article he had in it The online newspaper Christmas Eve. There he wrote that opposition to Israel’s policies must not be confused with anti-Semitism.

In addition to making a name for himself as a commentator, Rønsen has many years of experience as editor of the music newspaper Puls.

However, the seasoned press veteran has not experienced anything similar to the cold shower he received in space Christmas.

– I have never been threatened with death before, says Rønsen to Dagbladet.

– Should clean up

Rønsen thought the whole thing was so gross that he addressed the incident in a new commentary article, which last Friday was printed in The class struggle. There he reproduces the content of the message.

When soldiers become vandals

It appears that he considered reporting to the police, which he later decided not to do.

In the article in Klassekampen, Rønsen writes that the sender is “a well-known supporter of Med Israel for Peace (MIFF)”, and that MIFF receives support from several people in the Storting.

Then he asks rhetorically:

“Before this gang accuses friends of Palestine of hateful rhetoric, perhaps they should clean up their own ranks?”

That causes journalist Bjarte Bjellås in MIFF to react.

The police: – Clear increase in anti-Semitism

– Blocked and banned

– Rønsen is very wrong if he believes that this person is a high-profile supporter of MIFF. He was banned from our Facebook page, because he wrote many ugly things, says Bjellås to Dagbladet.

“We in no way stand behind the content of the message and it is not representative of what MIFF stands for”, he writes to Dagbladet.

According to Bjellås, MIFF blocked him last year.

This version disputes the man. He writes to Dagbladet that he was “blocked and banned by Facebook Norway last year” – on laptop – for a Facebook post about “criminal Palestinian terrorist actions against civilian Jews in Israel”.

In that case, Arild Rønsen thinks it’s good.

– It is good for MIFF if he is banned, says Rønsen to Dagbladet.
