Arico fire controlled | Radio Club Tenerife | Hour 25 Canary Islands

The Canary Islands Government has declared as controlled the fire that affects the municipality of Arico (Tenerife) since last Thursday after starting in what is known as Chajaña ravine.

From this moment, the fire emergency level goes from 2, where the control and management of firefighting resources is in the hands of the Government of the Canary Islands, to level 1, which passes to the Cabildo de Tenerife.

The Arico fire has affected 3300 hectares of forest. The fire started in the ravine located near the town of El Bueno. Since then, the flames have spread, especially throughout the night from Thursday to Friday, towards the border with the municipality of Granadilla, in the El Río ravine. Part of the flames affected the Forest Crown already a part of Teide National Park, although the aerial means acted quickly to avoid a major disaster.

In total, they were deployed seven air resources between seaplanes and helicopters to act on a very steep area. About 300 ground troops were also added between the workers from the island of Tenerife and those who moved from La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Gran Canaria.
