The council took to an urgent extraordinary plenary session, this Friday, December 29, the approval process to correct invoices generated before 2023
The Arico City Council has held an extraordinary plenary session to address the extrajudicial recognition of credit (REC) intended for the payment of invoices generated by the previous municipal government. These invoices, corresponding to services provided before 2023 and that were not processed for payment by the previous Councilor for the Treasury (CC), amount to a total of 64,209.22 euros.
The invoices cover various concepts, from the City Council’s civil liability policies to work carried out by small local businesses. These suppliers, in many cases, were affected by the lack of management and non-compliance with deadlines by the previous head of the Treasury, even leading to the eviction of the municipal warehouse due to non-payment of rent in May 2023.
The mayor, Olivia Delgado, expressed concern about the damage caused to local suppliers, families and small businesses, stressing that each invoice represents hours of work and effort by those who provided services to the municipality. She highlighted that the new government (PSOE-PP) from the first moment prioritized the need to address this problem in a rigorous and responsible manner and process these payments.
«Behind each of these invoices there is a commitment from our local companies and small entrepreneurs. This extrajudicial recognition of credit is a necessary measure to put an end to the uncertainty and damage that has accumulated for too long,” declared the mayor.
For his part, the first deputy mayor, Andrés Martínez, emphasized the effort of the current government to pay off the debts of the last legislature and work to improve the financial situation of the municipality. He noted that the extrajudicial recognition of credit is a fundamental step to meet outstanding obligations and allow the city council to move forward more effectively.
“We are committed to transparency and responsibility in municipal management. We approve this extrajudicial recognition of credit with the objective of putting an end to the inherited economic problems and moving towards a more efficient administration committed to the citizens of Arico,” said the first deputy mayor.
Regarding the vote carried out in plenary, Canarian Coalition voted against the urgency, despite being invoices from previous years. Furthermore, it did not support the REC’s file either.
This municipal government reaffirms its commitment to responsible and transparent management, working to solve the problems that remained pending from the previous mandate and laying the foundations for a more solid and prosperous future for the municipality of Arico.
During these first months, priority has been given to updating payments to suppliers to alleviate the economic situation that was generated for these suppliers and to be able to guarantee services. After this priority economic management of the government, the municipal budget, which is prepared in the absence of technical reports, will be approved in the coming weeks, since the technical area has been dedicated to preparing reports for the payment of these debts.
