Arica Customs donates hundreds of books to JUNJI and Integra Foundation

To collaborate with the promotion of reading in early childhood education

The Regional Customs Office made a double delivery of donations to promote education and access to reading in the region, delivering 310 books to the National Board of Kindergartens (JUNJI) and 224 children’s books and 26 interactive DVDs to the Network of Nursery Schools and Kindergartens of Fundación Integra

Both donations include a variety of books for different ages, including classic stories, children’s literature and educational material. These books will be used in the pedagogical activities of kindergartens and educational programs, benefiting hundreds of children in the region.

For the regional director of Customs, Luis Zárate Quiero, this action highlights the commitment of the tax authority to the community and education, “for us it is a source of pride to be able to contribute to the development of the region, and education is a priority. We believe that reading is a fundamental tool for the progress of children and we hope that these books will be very useful for JUNJI and Integra.”

Along these lines, the regional director of JUNJI, Sandra Flores Contreras, stressed that the donation is a joint effort for early childhood and that “children’s texts will undoubtedly be an important part of the learning of boys and girls, who are the protagonists of educational experiences that seek to promote reading from the cradle.”

The regional director of Fundación Integra, Jorge Yáñez Castro, said that “the children who attend our kindergartens probably do not have the number of books that other children have. The place where they can access them is the kindergarten and the books that you are giving us today will be there, so this event is extremely important for us.”

The Regional Customs Directorate of Arica reaffirms its commitment to the community, seeking to contribute to the social and cultural development of the region, promoting education and access to reading for all children.
