Argo Lawu New Generation Executive and Luxury Train Starts Operating for Christmas and New Year Holidays

KOMPAS.com – The Argo Lawu train (KA) for the Gambir-Solo Balapan round trip route (PP) operates using the New Generation Executive Train and New Generation Luxury Train starting Monday (18/12/2023).

“This is a form of improving PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) service to all customers welcoming the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays, especially Argo Lawu KA customers,” said KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus in an official broadcast, Sunday (17/12/ 2023).

The Argo Lawu Executive Train ticket fares range from IDR 600,000, while the Luxury New Generation Train ticket fares range from IDR 1.3 million to IDR 1.5 million.

Joni said that the tariff is dynamic, and remains at the lower limit tariff up to the predetermined upper limit tariff.

For information, the New Generation trains are part of the procurement of 612 units of New Generation Stainless Steel trains for the period 2023 to 2026 imported from PT INKA (Persero).

This New Generation train, continued Joni, will later be operated for other trains in stages.

Argo Lawu New Generation Executive and Luxury Facilities

The advantage of the Executive and Luxury New Generation trains is that the train entrance and connecting doors between trains already use automatic electric doors.

This makes it easier for passengers to open or close the door without having to expend a lot of energy. In addition, the sound of opening and closing the door is also quieter.

Another advantage is that there is a passenger information board or Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) provided on every train, including dining cars.

Information displayed by PIDS includes nearby stations, speed, and room temperature.

Thus, it will help create a better travel experience and provide important information to customers during the trip.

Apart from that, the windows of the Executive and Luxury New Generation trains have also been upgraded to tempered double glass from previously tempered glass.

Thus, the safety level of the train is higher, helps reduce the entry of excess heat and UV rays into the room, and reduces noise.

“For the need to charge customers’ devices, KAI has added a cellphone charging spot or USB charger port on each seat. Its position is next to the power socket that is available on the train wall,” said Joni.

The addition of charging facilities allows passengers to use mobile devices, laptops and smart watches without worrying about running out of power.

Another advantage of this New Generation Luxury Train is the addition of a train toilet. If previously there was only one toilet, now there are two toilets separated into men’s and women’s toilets.

Meanwhile, the dining carts in the New Generation series have also been updated to be more luxurious with premium interiors and furniture.

The dining car is dominated by wooden touches and softer and softer dining chairs.

“It is hoped that the upgrade (renewal) of train comfort that KAI is carrying out will make railway transportation more advanced. So that it can attract more public interest in remaining loyal to using train services,” said Joni.

He added that currently train tickets for the Christmas period are still available. Train ticket orders are made via the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, as well as all other official train ticket booking channels.

For information, previously KAI had operated Executive and Luxury New Generation trains with similar facilities on the Argo Dwipangga train. This train has been operating since Wednesday (13/12/2023) for the Gambir-Solo Balapan pp. connection.
