Argentinian Midfielder Mateo Tanlongo Ordered to Pay One Million Euros to Racing Club for Breach of Contract

Midfielder Mateo Tanlongo was ordered by a court in Santander to pay one million euros to Racing, for not fulfilling an agreement with the Spanish club. The Argentine player reached an understanding with the club from the neighboring country last summer and all he needed was to sign, but he went to Copenhagen.

Racing decided to transfer the player with Sporting, Tanlongo was at the stadium and he even recorded the video of the presentation with shirt number 22 on.

However, when Tanlongo’s representative arrived in Santander to sign the agreement, there was a meeting with Racing’s sporting director. The agent explained that the Argentine midfielder was going to travel to Copenhagen to fulfill his desire to play in the Champions League, but the Spanish club did not give up on the signing and gave the case to court.

According to the court decision, which was announced by the Spanish news agency EFE, Tanlongo was not “honest, correct, legal and faithful” at the “contractual level”.

Tanlongo now has five days to appeal this decision.

It should be noted that the million euro is the amount specified in the agreement in case of breach of contract.

After just one game in half a season at Copenhagen, Tanlongo was transferred to Rio Ave in the last transfer market. So far, he has played nine games for the Vilacondenses team.
