Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo reached the second round of the Winston-Salem tournament, defeating Russian Roman Safiullin (7-6 [5]3-6, 6-3) at Winston-Salem on Sunday evening.

Cerundolo, ranked No. 103 in the ATP, will face No. 10 seed Yannick Hanfmann in the second round of the North Carolinian tournament.
