The gesture shown by the Aston Villa goalkeeper was a signal to the French people.
Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has revealed why he deliberately made an “inappropriate” gesture on the grandstand at the 2022 World Cup.
Argentina won the world title after defeating France on penalties in the final which took place at the Iconic Stadium in Lusail on Sunday (18/12).
Martinez was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament. He also dismissed one of France’s missed kicks which was executed by Kingsley Coman.
The 30-year-old bartender took the stage to accept the Golden Gloves trophy, but then the celebration was a little different.
Martinez went for an abrupt move, where he dropped the trophy in front of his vitals.
The former Arsenal goalkeeper’s actions have become gossip among netizens because they are considered disrespectful. However, he finally opened up about him questioning the suggestion.
“I did it because the French booed me. I can’t handle their arrogance” Martinez said Radio The Net.
Now, another difficult task is immediately hailed by Martinez as Aston Villa host Liverpool at Villa Park on Boxing Day of the English Premier League on Tuesday (27/12) early morning WIB.
