Former Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago has brought down the curtain on his footballer career and retired after a series of injuries.
Argentine Gago (34 years) previously played in Boca Juniors, Rome and Valencia and was currently registered in the Velez Sarsfield squad, as his coach Pablo Caballero told a radio station during the announcement of Gago’s retirement: We have lost a very important player, Fernando has made the decision.
Gago, with the distinctive touch, has severed the Achilles tendon three times, has severed the cruciate ligament twice and was absent for long periods.
Fernando won the Spanish League twice with Real Madrid and also participated with Argentina in the 2014 World Cup and the 2008 Olympics.
